BARCADERA – Arugas announces an adjustment in the price of domestic gas, which will take effect on February 15, 2025. This decision was made following official approval from the Government of Aruba in early February 2025.
As is well known, the price of domestic gas is regulated. For more than 35 years—until 2022—the only price increases were due to the introduction of BBO, BAZV, and BAVP taxes. Throughout this period, Arugas continuously informed the Government of Aruba that the regulated price did not cover the costs associated with importation and distribution.
In 2022, Arugas received approval for the first price adjustment, increasing the price to Afl. 60 per 100 lbs. cylinder. However, despite this increase, the new price still did not cover the costs of importation and distribution.
Following further discussions, Arugas has once again received approval to increase the domestic gas price to Afl. 80 per 100 lbs. cylinder. This new price will take effect on February 15, 2025, and applies to the first four cylinders. The fifth and sixth cylinders will cost Afl. 100 each, and from the seventh cylinder onward, the applicable commercial rate at the time of purchase will be charged.
Arugas remains committed to supplying domestic gas safely and reliably to the people of Aruba. To ensure the continuity of this essential service, the price must reflect the costs of importation and operations.
Arugas appreciates the support of its customers and continues to work on improving efficiency and controlling costs. We thank all our customers for their understanding and remain dedicated to providing a safe and sustainable gas supply for Aruba.
NOTE: This price adjustment applies only to domestic customers. There are no changes to the gas price for commercial customers.
